Heracles (Ἡρακλῆς); the greatest of the Greek heroes. Cursed with madness by the goddess Hera, he killed his wife Megara and their children. After his madness had been cured, he realized what he had done and fled to the Oracle of Delphi where he was directed to serve king Eurystheus for ten years and perform the twelve labours.
